How to Make Your Skydive Extra Memorable: Ideas Beyond the Jump

By Skydive Geronimo Feb 27, 2025

Tandem skydiving over Rottnest Island is pretty special in its own right. But why stop there? The amazing rush that comes over you, and continues once back on terra firma, is a feeling like no other. And the paradise location of Rottnest is the perfect place to enjoy while those endorphins are buzzing – there’s nothing quite like the wonder of such a natural high.

The views you’ll get as you surf the thermals of this idyllic corner of Western Australia are truly second to none. But they’re also pretty special at ground level too. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to head back to the mainland – spending a few hours (or a few days) in paradise post-jump offers boundless opportunities to ensure that the magic lasts as long as possible.

As locals with a passion for our wonderful area, we highly recommend adding one (or more) of the following to your skydiving experience.

Take a Hike

There’s something ethereal about hiking on a small island. Perhaps it’s the almost constant view of the ocean? Maybe it’s the possibility of seeing wildlife at any moment? Or it could be the closeness to good old Mother Nature and her unique, soul-soothing touch… Whatever it is, hiking Rottnest has it – and there’s no better post-skydive activity to enhance those wonderful feel-good hormones that will still be dancing inside your body.

The island has walks and hikes for all abilities. Grab a free island map from the visitor centre (or download them from the Rottnest Island website) and head to one of the five Wadjemup Bidi trails. These range from 5.7km to 10km – and they’re all connected. If you’re staying a few days then you can hike the whole 45km.

The island also offers guided walking tours, some of which feature further outdoor activities, such as photography or a stay in an overnight retreat. Whatever you choose, the satisfaction of tramping the landscape you’ve just marvelled at from 15,000 feet as you freefall toward earth is, quite simply, spellbinding…

Enjoy a Celebratory Dinner

Whatever your food of choice, there are multiple dining options on the island. Perhaps you fancy celebrating your skydive with a glass of something bubbly and fine dining? We highly recommend a spot, such as Bayside Bar, Lontara or Isola Bar E Cibo if that’s your scene.

Or maybe the adrenaline rush spikes your appetite for some hunger-busting food, such as hot chips, pizza or a burger. In which case, you might find that Dome Cafe, Geordie’s Café or Frankie’s on Rotto hit the spot.

Whether you fancy spicy Asian fare, Italian gourmet, succulent seafood or anything else, a slap-up meal is the ideal way to end the day. And there’s no better place to talk about, re-live and toast your skydiving experience than on the island that safely welcomed you back to earth.

Stay on Rottnest

A night or two on the island is the perfect finale to a skydiving experience. You’ve already reconnected with nature by capturing the power of the wind, air and thermals as you float down to earth. Bathing in the glory of Rottnest’s natural world as the sun dips below the horizon to be replaced by the shimmering moonscape continues the adventure.

Whether you choose a night under canvas, a self-contained unit or prefer the luxury of boutique accommodation, Rottnest will provide. You might even want to take your elemental adventure one step further. After all, you’ve done air, you’ve done earth, so what about adding water into the mix? The crystal-glass ocean that extends from the powder-white beaches offer endless opportunities, such as:

  • Snorkelling
  • Diving
  • Surfing
  • Boat trips
  • Whale watching

Whatever piques your interest, adding some time on Rottnest Island after your exhilarating skydiving experience really is the icing on the cake. With so much to see and do, gorgeous accommodation options, eateries and more, extending that post-jump feeling isn’t just a nice thing to do, it’s almost essential.

Book your tandem skydive today and find out for yourself. We can’t wait to fly with you…
