Places to Eat and Drink on Rottnest After Your Jump
You’ve only gone and done it! Booked your Skydive on Rottnest Island, that is… And, no doubt, you’re already experiencing that pre-jump rush. (And yes, it happens every single time you plan a jump, no matter how much of a seasoned pro you might be…)
That’s half of the fun – the excitement and anticipation that builds, right up until you’re perched on the edge of the aircraft, strapped to your instructor and peering down at the glistening waters and powder white sands twinkling below.
One thing that’s a given is that, after the massive adrenaline fix that skydiving delivers, you’re going to want to celebrate. Rottnest has a bunch of great restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from. For many, the post-jump chow down turns into quite a celebration.
The following are some of our recommendations, with options to suit every taste.
Dining fun for the whole family
When there’s a range of ages and a variety of dietary requirements to satisfy, head to one of Rottnest’s cafes. You’ll be spoilt for choice with the excellent coffee, smoothies, freshest seafood (you have to try the iconic cray dog), finger food and larger plates that’ll delight even the fussiest of eaters.
- The Dome Café: Open from 8 am (7.30 am weekends) to 3 pm, this lively location is handily situated a short stroll from the ferry terminal. The food is seasonal, uber-fresh, with plentiful options. Burgers, pancake stacks, chicken, veggie and vegan choices… The Dome is also open on selected evenings during the main season, where you can pair some Aussie wine or a beer with some home-cooked delicacies.
- The Lane Café: Open from 7 am to 4 pm daily and walking distance from the ferry terminal, this is a great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. It’s the perfect place to choose for a post-morning jump meal, where the air is at its clearest, visibility is amazing and the skydiving buzz will stay with your all through the day. From the freshest coffee to acai bowls, crayfish to gourmet options, there’s something here for everyone.
- Geordie’s Café: Open from 7.30 am – 4 pm Sunday to Tuesday and until 7.30 pm Wednesday to Saturday, this café/art gallery is a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. Enjoy a range of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, where the specials of the day complement an already extensive menu. Geordie’s is also fully licensed and serves a fab range of cocktails – just the job for celebrating your skydiving achievement.
Intimate fine dining
If you’re looking for a place to cosy up with your loved one, enjoy some delicious food and toast your skydive success, then check out one of the following:
- Lontara Restaurant: Located in one of Rottnest’s finest accommodation complexes, Samphire, Lontara serves delicate, Asian-inspired dishes that utilises the very best of local produce. Enjoy a glass or two of wine from a global list or sip on a cocktail as the sun goes down. Lontara is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with varying hours depending on the day.
- Pinky’s Rottnest: A delightful bar and restaurant with a sunset deck, incredible views a menu dedicated to sustainability and local produce. Open daily from 7.30 am until late, we’d recommend booking in advance – it’s a very popular choice. You’ll find Pinky’s inside the grounds of Discovery Resorts, Rottnest.
- Hotel Rottnest: Located at Thomson Bay, this relaxed eatery is the perfect place to re-live your skydive over a cocktail and a sharing platter from a menu that includes all your favourite pub classics. No need to book – it’s walk-in only – and is open daily from 10.30 am until late.
Food on the go
Of course, you might prefer to bring a picnic or grab a take-out from one of the excellent grab ‘n go outlets.
- Lexis on Rotto: At the west end of the island, Lexis offers hot and cold drinks and a range of snacks, all served from a restored 1970s caravan. Open from 10 am – 5 pm daily.
- Rottnest bakery: Grab a sandwich, sausage roll, meat pie and something sweet – or perhaps something chicken-inspired from the outlet’s Chook Shack. Open daily from 8 am to 4 pm.
- Simmo’s Rottnest: Sometimes, only an ice cream can really hit the spot. And with over 60 flavours on offer, everyone can find something they love at Simmo’s. Located near the ferry port and open every day from 10 am – 4 pm.
The beach you’ll land on is driven by the weather conditions on the day. But don’t worry, we’ll transport you and your group back to the airport after your jump. You can then take full advantage of the bike hire or hop-on, hop-off buses that regularly traverse the island. Or, if you prefer, we can drop you at or close to a location of your choice – Rottnest is compact so nowhere is ever too far.
