Skydive Geronimo Joins World Record Breaking World Skydiving Day 2026
There was a little extra buzz around the drop zone on Saturday 11 July 2026. Every skydive around the world counted towards one huge goal…long pause….To break the World Skydiving Day record!
Skydive Geronimo Rottnest was as always, honoured to be able to contribute and be a part of it.
Across the globe from Canada to New Zealand, skydivers from 43 countries came together to complete a total of 31,075 skydives in a single day. Officially setting a new World Skydiving Day record and beating the previous record of 30,351 jumps set in 2024.
Here on Rotto, our team contributed 15 tandem skydives towards the record. No we know what your thinking… it’s not a massive number, but it’s a small part of a huge worldwide achievement. We are stoked with this outcome especially when we are smack bang in the middle of winter here in Australia! Every single jump represented someone choosing to step outside their comfort zone, trust their instructor, and experience the incredible feeling of flying through the sky.
For many of our tandem guests, it was their very first skydive, a bucket-list moment they had been dreaming about for years. Little did they know, they were also becoming part of skydiving history.
More Than Just a World Record
World Skydiving Day is about more than numbers. It’s a celebration of everything that makes skydiving special. The people, the friendships, the adventure, and the unforgettable moments that happen when you decide to hurl yourself out of a plane.
Few people know that feeling better than our tandem instructor Stephan. With over 40 years in the sport and more than 21,500 skydives, Stephan has experienced some incredible moments around the world, from jumping over glaciers to flying above the Great Barrier Reef.
When asked what advice he would give first-time skydivers, Stephan said:
“Trust your Tandem Instructor, because their aim is to give you the experience of your lifetime. Don’t overthink it, just enjoy the views and the moment. After your landing on the beach, you’ll want to jump again.”
And he’s right. The nervous smiles before a jump often turn into the biggest grins once feet touch the ground.
